The Tampa Bay Lightning overcame a three-goal first-period deficit to defeat the Carolina Hurricanes. Jake Guentzel was the difference maker, scoring two in the third period to give Tampa the two-goal 6-4 win.
Tampa found the back of the net three times in second period to bring the game back to a draw. Carolina opened up the third period with a goal, scoring within the first three minutes, but Tampa went on a 3-0 run to end the game.
The win ended Tampa’s three-game losing streak. They’re now 19-13-3 (W-L-OTL), sitting at third in a very tight Atlantic Division. Only 10 points separates 1st-8th place in the Atlantic Division standings. Next up, they face the 14-15-8 St. Louis Blues at home in Benchmark International Arena.
