Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners Votes on County-Wide Face Mask Order

The Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners voted today on one of three plans to implement a county-wide face mask ordinance for residents.

In recent days, the state of Florida has added 3,289 new COVID-19 cases, bringing Florida to more than 103,000 total cases. As hospitalizations are rising, the Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners took action by deciding on a public plan for wearing face masks.

The commission voted to implement a face mask ordinance for all residents of Pinellas County, going into affect on Wednesday, June 24th at 5 p.m. It will require all Pinellas County residents to wear a face mask in any indoor establishments, with a $100 civil fine being issued for a first offense. This move puts Pinellas County in line with other cities and counties enacting similar ordinances in the Tampa Bay area.
