A man is facing charges after he was accused of attacking his 90-year-old grandmother with a skateboard.

The alleged attack happened on Monday afternoon. Police responded after receiving several 911 calls about a man attacking family members with a skateboard, according to WFXT.

Middlesex County District Attorney Marian Ryan said during a news conference that Devin Dube attacked Elaine Dube in the basement of her home, “striking her several times with a skateboard.

Elaine Dube was taken to a hospital, where she died. Two other people, Devin Dube’s sister and father, were treated and released.

Devin Dube was found hiding in a van after the alleged attack and was arrested without incident.

He was charged with murder, assault and battery causing serious bodily injury over 60, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon over 60, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, police said, according to WFXT.

He pleaded not guilty and was ordered to be held without bail pending a 20-day psychiatric evaluation.

Forensic psychologist Dr. Hilary Novak told the court that Devin Dube showed “a number of psychiatric symptoms,” including auditory hallucinations, and had a history of schizophrenia, WFXT reported. Novak recommended a competency evaluation to determine if he could stand trial.
