DAYTONA BEACH SHORES, Fla. — A hotel guest in Daytona Beach was reportedly killed by a forklift as it was doing storm repairs.
The 62-year-old woman was hit Monday while walking through a parking lot at the Beach Haven Inn, Daytona Shores Public Safety Officer Michael Fowler said, according to The Associated Press.
The hotel is going through repairs for damage from Tropical Storm Ian back in September, according to the AP. The hotel is located next to the Atlantic Ocean.
The forklift that hit the woman was moving roofing material but the driver said they did not see the woman and ran her over, Fowler said, according to the AP.
The woman was taken to the hospital but she later died from her injuries, the AP reported. Her name has not yet been released.
The investigation is ongoing. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has been notified, according to the AP.
