The dog, which was found tied up to a fire hydrant in a Wisconsin neighborhood earlier this month with a note and a backpack, was adopted within a day of becoming available to the public, WLUK-TV reported.

The Wisconsin Humane Society said a family has stepped forward to care for the dog, who was found in a Green Bay neighborhood with a note and a backpack filled with food, treats, and toys.

The former owner, according to the Humane Society, said she was grateful the dog found a new home, WGBA-TV reported.

Veterinarians who examined the nearly 6-year-old dog said she had some medical issues, including Diabetes mellitus (canine diabetes), according to WLUK.

The dog was found at a fire hydrant near the corner of East Walnut Street and South Clay Street by a neighbor, WFRV-TV reported. The neighbor said a note that accompanied the animal said the former owner was unable to care for her anymore.

The neighbor told the television station that she sat with the dog for about an hour, hoping that the owner would return. When she did not, the woman took the dog to the dog to the Wisconsin Humane Society’s branch in Green Bay.

“She has officially found a new home!” the Humane Society wrote in a Facebook post on Thursday. “Thank you, thank you, thank you!”
