California baby found dead in hot car, police say

FULLERTON, Calif. — Police in California are investigating after a baby was found dead in a hot car Wednesday.

According to KNBC and KTLA, Fullerton police responded Wednesday afternoon to a report of an unresponsive child in a car on West Wilshire Avenue. First responders tried but failed to revive the victim, who had been taken out of the vehicle before they arrived, the news outlets reported.

Police have not released the baby’s name, gender or age, but said the child was younger than 2, the reports said. Investigators said the death appeared to have been accidental, according to KCBS.

No further information was immediately available.
