Dennis John Hernandez, 36, also known as “D.J.” and “Jonathan,” was issued a misdemeanor summons for breach of peace on Thursday by Bristol police, Sports Illustrated reported.

Dennis Hernandez, who played quarterback and wide receiver at the University of Connecticut from 2005 to 2008, allegedly threw a bag containing a brick and a note onto the property of the cable sports network, according to a police report.

According to The Associated Press, police said that Dennis Hernandez had arrived at ESPN in an Uber, which drove up to the gate. He allegedly threw something, which police later determined was a brick.

According to police, the note was addressed to “all media outlets,” WVIT-TV reported.

“It’s about time you all realeyes the affect media has on all family members,” Hernandez wrote. “Since you’re a world wide leader maybe you could lead how media and messages are delivered brick by brick. Clean it up! Yours truly, Dennis J. Hernandez.”

Security personnel at ESPN shut down the entrance and exit of the campus for about 30 minutes, according to WVIT.

Police said Hernandez eluded Southington and Cheshire police during chases but was later caught in Bristol, according to Sports Illustrated. He was taken to a hospital to receive an evaluation for what police said was a mental health problem.

Police said that Dennis Hernandez admitted he had been at the headquarters but did not want to speak about it, according to the television station.

Aaron Hernandez was born in Bristol and starred for the Bristol Central High School football team, according to Pro-Football-Reference.com. The tight end played for the University of Florida and was selected by the New England Patriots in the fourth round of the 2010 NFL draft.

Aaron Hernandez was arrested in 2013 and convicted in 2015 of killing semi-professional football player Odin Lloyd. He killed himself in 2017 in a prison cell while serving a murder sentence.

Dennis Hernandez did not immediately respond to an email from The Associated Press seeking comment. Like his brother, Hernandez grew up in Bristol. Recent online records showed that he lived in Riverview, Florida.
