ATLANTA — Calling the police in the wake of a car wreck is a common action that won’t be so common anymore in Atlanta.

The Atlanta Police Department will no longer be responding on-scene to calls regarding traffic accidents unless there are injuries, WSB-TV reported.

City officials announced the decision Thursday via social media.

“To protect the health and safety of our staff and customers, and to help mitigate the impact of COVID-19, the Atlanta Police Department will not be dispatched to the scene of non-injury automobile accidents,” the announcement reads.

Motorists who are involved in car accidents are to fill out an online form with details of the incident.

The move is a temporary one, WSB-TV reported.
