Tampa Spot Voted Into Top 100 Brunches in the Country...

...Only Thing Is, They Don’t Serve Brunch!

There’s so much wrong with this story from local news station WFLA. Open Table, an app many use to make restaurant reservations, clearly has faulty algorithms pertaining to what “brunch” is. Ulele is a fantastic restaurant. Dazzling views, inventive and delicious food, and always superb service. Thus, it stands to reason that it would be voted one of the top 100 brunches in the country...

...except THEY DO NOT SERVE BRUNCH.

Nary an egg dish to be found on the menu. Splendid seafood dishes, indescribably good chargrilled oysters, local seltzers and beers abound...BUT NO BRUNCH.

Tampa Bay has so many amazing spots for brunch. Certainly, a few of them are worthy of the honor of being included in Open Table’s list of Top 100 Brunches in the US. This is not a slight against Ulele at all, as I’ve had many great meals there and definitely plan on returning.

However, call me crazy...but I like for the “Best Brunch Spots” to ACTUALLY SERVE BRUNCH. Mimosas! Benedicts! Hash Browns! Grits! There is so much to love about brunch. None of it can exist, however, if the restaurant does not actually serve brunch.

Regardless, congrats to Ulele and all at the Columbia Restaurant Group for the distinction. They have been huge supporters of Drew Saves Xmas each year and it’s much appreciated. I look forward to brunching at Ulele as soon as they actually start serving brunc.
