According to KOKI-TV, officials at North Texas State Hospital in Vernon reported Alexander Scott Ervin, 29, missing on Monday morning after security video showed him leaving his room and scaling a fence Sunday night, Vernon police said. Ervin, who is considered armed and dangerous, appeared to flee northward by foot, authorities said.

Ervin, who is autistic, was acquitted of murder by reason of insanity in 2014 after authorities said he fatally stabbed his father, Ray Scott Ervin, KOKI reported.

In a Facebook post Monday, Vernon-Wilbarger County Crime Stoppers said they are offering up to $500 in reward money for tips that lead to Ervin’s capture, according to KOKI. The post described him as a brown-haired, brown-eyed white man who stands 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighs about 160 pounds.

If you have information about Ervin’s whereabouts, call Crime Stoppers at 940-552-5011 or 1-800-322-9888.
