DULUTH, Minn. — A former NFL defensive end and University of Wisconsin standout has been charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a 7-year-old girl.
According to a criminal complaint, the child told her mother in February that 44-year-old Thomas Allen Burke assaulted her on numerous occasions, ESPN reported.
According to WAOW, the girl teared up during an interview with the Child Advocacy Center and said that she did not want to talk about the assault.
Burke, whose bail was set at $100,000, has denied any sexual acts toward the victim, the TV station reported.
Burke, who played for the Wisconsin Badgers from 1995 to 1998 and was inducted into the university’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2020, played for the Arizona Cardinals from 1999 to 2002, ESPN reported.
