Boynton Beach dog slapped, punched by former owner ready for her forever home

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. — A man captured on video punching and slapping one of his dogs on Sunday has permanently relinquished custody of the pup.

Police said Tuesday the owner of the 2-year-old female pit bull-Lab mix, named Addison, has expressed remorse and said he “understands the gravity of his actions,” WPTV reported.

Boynton Beach Animal Cruelty Investigator Liz Roehrich told the TV station that there is no probable cause to remove two other dogs, ages 11 and 13, at the man’s home because they appear to have been well taken care of.

“Adi can now look forward to finding a forever home filled with love and gentle hands,” Roehrich said.

According to WFLX, Addison has been in the custody of Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control since Monday morning, and the agency is accepting all inquiries into her status and availability for adoption.

No charges have been filed against the previous owner, but police said the investigation remains active, WFLX reported.
