BALLY SPORTS SUN TO PRESENT 30TH ANNIVERSARY VIEWMASTER AT MARCH 9 LIGHTNING GAME

TAMPA, Fla. Fans can take a trip back in time as Bally Sports Sun, the network home of the Tampa Bay Lightning, presents a special 30th-anniversary ViewMaster to all in attendance at AMALIE Arena for the March 9 game against the Vegas Golden Knights.

Tapping into the nostalgia of the 1990s, the ViewMaster features seven images highlighting some of the top moments in Lightning history:

  • Ceremonial puck drop from the inaugural game, Oct. 7, 1992 at Expo Hall
  • The network’s first broadcast, with Paul Kennedy interviewing team founder Phil Esposito
  • The record-setting NHL playoff attendance in 1996 at The Thunderdome in St. Petersburg
  • The 2021 Stanley Cup champions
  • Steven Stamkos’ goal in Game 3 of the 2020 Stanley Cup Final, which was named Sports Illustrated’s Play of the Year
  • The 2020 Stanley Cup champions
  • The 2021 Stanley Cup champions

“This one-of-a-kind collectible item celebrates how far the Lightning have come in their rich history, and we are proud to have been there since the beginning as the team’s television partner,” said Steve Tello, Bally Sports Sun Senior Vice President and General Manager.

The ViewMasters will be handed out to fans entering the arena for the 7 p.m. game, which will air on Bally Sports Sun. Tickets remain available for that night. For more information, go to TampaBayLightning.com/ViewMaster.

As part of the promotion, fans will also have a chance to win one of seven Reverse Retro 2.0 Lightning jerseys signed by Esposito in a sweepstakes that will begin on March 9.

The promotion honors the Bolts’ 30th anniversary and jumpstarts the countdown to Lightning Alumni Weekend on March 16-18. Esposito will be inducted as part of the inaugural Lightning Hall of Fame class along with Vincent Lecavalier and Martin St. Louis, the organization’s only two players to have their jersey numbers retired.

Fans can tune in to Bally Sports Sun’s Lightning coverage over the next two weeks for more information and footage featuring the ViewMaster giveaway item. Programming can also be streamed live in the Bally Sports app and at BallySports.com when viewers authenticate with their pay-TV credentials. Coverage is also available through Bally Sports+, a new standalone streaming option. For more information, visit BallySportsPlus.com.
