SANFORD, Fla. —

A pool of 500 potential jurors will be called in the months leading up to George Zimmerman's second-degree murder trial.

That decision came out at a hearing in Seminole County late Thursday afternoon.

Zimmerman attorney Mark O'Mara and state prosecutors agreed that 500 is an adequate number of potential jurors because of the massive publicity surrounding the case.

O'Mara told the court he thought it would take one to two weeks to pick a jury and hopes that people who are familiar with the killing of Trayvon Martin can be fair.

"You know as well as I do that this case has had massive publicity, so we'll have to get to those jurors who at least have heard something about it [but] can set it aside," said O'Mara.

O'Mara again said he wanted the judge to push back the trial so he could fit in "stand your ground" hearings.

Judge Debra Nelson has set aside two weeks in April for that hearing. The murder trial is set for June 10.
