Skatepark of Tampa’s in-house charity organization, Boards for Bros, gears up to give out 100 skateboards to underprivileged Tampa Bay children this Saturday.

For the past five years, on the Saturday before Christmas, the staff from Skatepark of Tampa has taken a pick-up truck full of skateboards through some of the surrounding counties’ most challenged neighborhoods. The stops usually begin with a bewildering look from the residents, but as soon as Santa Claus steps out of the delivery truck, the excitement ensues and the skateboards are distributed.

Throughout the year, Skatepark of Tampa collects discarded decks, trucks, and wheels, and then uses donated hardware and bearings to make the refurbished pieces into complete skateboards. Boards for Bros has distributed skateboards in Cuba, South Africa, Costa Rica, and The Netherlands.
