The run-up to the Daytona 500 begins on Sunday with the qualifying. Find out where you can catch it on TV.
Racers (and NASCAR fans), start your engines: it's nearly time for the Daytona 500. Sunday has the qualifying rounds in store, with potentially major implications for the race on Feb. 23.
The Daytona qualifying format differs from other races, in that only the top two spots are locked in. On Sunday, the drivers will race two consecutive laps, and the two fastest laps will secure the front row for the main event on Feb. 23. Last year, Danica Patrick won the pole position, becoming the first woman to start first at Daytona. She ended up finishing eighth while Jimmie Johnson took the checkered flag.
The rest of the lineup will be determined by qualifying speed in the Budweiser Duel, two 150-mile races that will take place on Thursday.
The qualifying laps start at 1 p.m. ET and will be televised live on FOX.
