About Tampa Bay Startup Quest™:
Tampa Bay WorkForce Alliance is one of eight workforce boards in Florida launching Startup Quest™. Startup Quest™ is an innovative, grant-funded entrepreneur training program which teaches degree-holding professionals what it takes to start a new business. The training is focused on commercializing a new technology, but the lessons can be applied to any business. On the first day of the program, participants are put into teams led by experienced mentors. During the nine weeks of training, each team develops a business plan for commercializing a new technology, and on the 10th session the teams face-off in a pitch competition. The training is offered at no-cost to qualified applicants.
Startup Quest™ teaches you how to conduct market research and find the value proposition of your business, how to develop the necessary financials, and how to plan the corporate structure of your business. It provides an opportunity to go through the steps for launching a business in a simulated environment; the businesses aren’t real but the lessons learned are.
Training participants should have a post-secondary degree and experience in business, engineering, physical sciences, social/behavioral sciences, marketing, finance, management, research, public relations or a related area. To be eligible, a participant must be unemployed or underemployed, legally able to work in the US, and males whose date of birth falls after December 31, 1959 must meet Selective Service registration requirements.
