Funds Raised Benefit The Lynn Sowers Memorial Foundation and Hillsborough Firefighters Benevolent Relief Fund
As part of the brand new Hard Rock Heatwave concert series, Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa along with 102.5 The Bone present the First Responders Tribute Concert at Hard Rock Cafe on Friday, August 9 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. All first responders get in free with their badge, and the first 500 get a commemorative T-shirt. Mike “Cowhead” Calta of The Cowhead Show on 102.5 The Bone will emcee the benefit concert as well as perform with his band Pitbull Toddler. Scream Machine will also perform. The event is 21 and up with a suggested donation of $10. There will also be a silent auction featuring rockin’ items such as guitars signed by Sum 41 and Gavin DeGraw. All funds raised benefit first responder charities including the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office’s Lynn Sowers Memorial Foundation and Hillsborough Firefighters Benevolent Relief Fund.
The community will also be able to nominate first responders for the inaugural Rock Solid Under Pressure Award. Nominations are now being accepted at www.theboneonline.com. The grand prize winner will receive a guitar, a grand prize trip, dinner at Council Oak Steaks & Seafood Restaurant and breakfast at The Green Room. The winner will be announced at the First Responders Tribute Concert on August 9.
The concert schedule is as follows:
The Lynn Sowers Memorial Foundation was created in memory of Deputy Lynn Sowers. The Foundation is a nonprofit organization established to financially assist Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office employees who have suffered a catastrophic event. To date, the Foundation has distributed over $1 million to employees in need, while protecting the identity and privacy of all recipients. The majority of funding is derived from employee donations, mainly through payroll contribution. The organization also accepts donations from private sources and the community. Donations can be mailed to The Lynn Sowers Memorial Foundation, P.O. Box 270441, Tampa, FL 33688.
Hillsborough Firefighters Benevolent Relief Fund’s mission is to respond to a brother or sister firefighter in need. In 2004, the nonprofit organization was established. Their focus is on firefighters in Tampa, Temple Terrace, Plant City, MacDill and Hillsborough. To learn more, visit www.firefighter-relief.com.
Scream Machine was formed in 2010 with members Jay Hajj (vocals), Craig Johnston (guitar/vocals), Dave Wrenn (drums), and Brad Keith (bass). The band plays ‘80s, ‘90s and current hard-rocking hits.
Formed out of the popular Cowhead Show in 2008, Pitbull Toddler has kicked in the door of the Tampa music scene with their combination of blues/metal driven originals and popular covers. The members, Cowhead (Bass), Galvin (Drums), John Brennan (Guitar/vocals), Pete Larios (guitar) and Josh Maloney (vocals), have been performing for nearly a decade in separate projects throughout the area. It was not until Pitbull Toddler, however, that the five reached the potential, the decibel levels and high enough temperatures.
