The replica of a 16th century village is back, with wizards, warriors, jousting, human chess matches, fire-eaters and, this week, chocolate and wine. The Bay Area Renaissance Festival opens with the theme Wine, Chocolate and Romance (it was switched from Buccaneer Beer Fest, which will be March 9-10), featuring a chocolate pie eating contest, wine tasting, fudge fling, grape stomp and free vow renewals. Also, the Queen's Cupcake Wars debuts on Sunday. To enter, you must create three Renaissance themed cupcakes (go to bayarearenaissancefest.com for details).
