Call him the Gangster of Love. Call him Maurice. You can even call him the Midnight Toker or Space Cowboy. Everybody knows that Steve Miller speaks the pompitus of love. The announcement of the 2012 touring season by the Steve Miller Band follows three of the most busy, productive years in the long, illustrious career of Steve Miller, an artist at the peak of his powers, in demand around the world, whether as the headliner chosen to inaugurate the new $2.5 million TV home of “Austin City Limits” or collaborating with country superstar Kenny Chesney on the Country Music Television special, “Crossroads.”

He released not one, but two new albums – the 2010 number one blues album, “Bingo,” and its successor, “Let Your Hair Down” – the first new Steve Miller Band records in eighteen years (“cause for celebration,” said the Huffington Post). The two albums featured artwork by noted Pink Floyd artist Storm Thorgerson and the final recordings of longtime Steve Miller Band member Norton Buffalo, Miller’s “partner in harmony” for thirty-three years, who died from cancer in October 2009.

His U.S. tour last year began with a series of small theaters through the East and South with Gregg Allman as his supporting act. Among the highlights of the 60-city tour were shows at the Allman Brothers’ Wanee Festival, playing for 38,000 fans at Pittsburg’s PNC Park or a free Fourth of July concert for 150,000 under the St. Louis Gateway Arch. At the same time, Miller found time to perform with jazz guitarist Howard Alden at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and play with some youth symphonies across the country on behalf of Kids Rock Free, a program of music education for children Miller supports.

In 2010, Miller returned to Europe for the first time in more than twenty-five years for a triumphant round of dates culminating in a sold out Royal Albert Hall concert in London, before rock royalty such as Jimmy Page and David Gilmour, filmed for DVD release.

One of rock music’s all-time greats, the Steve Miller Band has sold more than 30 million records in a career spanning more than 40 years. His trademark blues-rock sound made him one of the key artists in classic rock radio. The Steve Miller Band is brand name rock that millions have come to trust.
