The American folk music group was founded by Sparks in 1961 and found success early. Their debut album Presenting the New Christy Minstrels earned them a GRAMMY for Best Performance by a Chorus and was followed by several appearances on The Andy Williams Show. The New Christy Minstrels® enjoyed further success with their Ramblin’ album, which went gold and featured their first major hit single, Green, Green. The group also recorded This Land is Your Land, Denver and Chim Chim Cher-ee.
